Platform disclaimer
Platform disclaimer
Last updated: 14 June 2026
1. Naartjie is a venue only
Naartjie provides a platform that connects buyers and sellers in the same community. We are not a party to any transaction, do not own or inspect listed items, are not the seller's or buyer's agent, and make no promise that any item, service, job or listing is genuine, safe, legal or as described.
2. We do not process payments
Naartjie does not take card details, process payments, or hold funds in escrow. Buyers and sellers arrange and exchange payment directly, usually in person. We are not responsible for payment disputes, non-payment, non-delivery, chargebacks, or fraudulent payment methods. Because there is no payment gate, there is also no stored balance or card data for anyone to compromise.
3. We do not verify users or items
Ripeness Levels, ratings and any badges reflect community activity — they are signals, not guarantees. We do not run background checks on users and do not independently verify listings. Always inspect an item and use your judgement before paying.
4. User-generated content
Listings, messages, reviews and community posts are created by users, not by Naartjie. Views expressed are those of the user. We may moderate or remove content but are not responsible for content we have not reviewed.
5. Advertising & external links
Naartjie may show third-party ads (Google AdSense) and may link to external sites. We do not endorse and are not responsible for advertised products or external content. See our Cookie & Ads Notice.
6. Not professional advice
Information on Naartjie — including safety tips and these documents — is general information, not legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. For your situation, consult a suitably qualified professional.
7. Assumption of risk
You interact with other users and attend meetups at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Naartjie is not liable for any loss, theft, injury, or damage arising from your use of the platform or your dealings with other users. Please follow our safety guidance.
8. Your statutory rights are preserved
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, POPIA, or other mandatory South African law. Where any provision conflicts with such rights, those rights prevail.
